Unique Kit for The Diagnostics of Genetic Predisposition to Osteoporosis
On September 26-29th сompany “GENE”, which is a part of biotechnological holding “Alkor Bio”, took part in IV Russian osteoporosis congress in Saint-Petersburg. Our scientists presented new diagnostic kit called “OsteoGENE-M” for testing of genetic predisposition to bone diseases (like osteoporosis and arthrosis). Works on creation of this new diagnostic kit started in 2007. In 2009 at the Government competition of St.-Petersburg this project was awarded as the second best innovative project. Osteoporosis is characterized by progressive bone mineral density (BMD) decrease and the deterioration of bone structure, which increase the risk of fractures. During the meeting members of the Russian Osteoporosis association spent a lot of time talking about necessity of total genetic screening and taking osteoporosis preventive measures. Because the most dangerous is that osteoporosis often arises and progresses in latent form for a long time and is only diagnosed after disease high activity.
